After 3 rounds of testing the Outbreak engine is ready for a full scale pandemic. lets talk about testing!
Test 1: POC Flight tracking Validation, Development of playback tools.
The first test was an internal test. Recording Flights and known edge cases with a special tool created by one of our developers. “Pendemic Mock” allows us to record, payback, seek, and fast foward through data allowing us to capture test cases and play them back. This lets us replay Pandemics 300x faster than reality. Each of our developers took to the skys with a bundle of test cases. We were able to identify a number of flaws and bugs to fix before our first Pandemic activation with the die hard crew still active on our discord.
Test 2: Closed Test of Pandemic v7
Pandemic V7 was the first version to implement the new Outbreak engine. It operated with a simplified ruleset, no user settings, no acars, no Jumpseats. We were able identify a few more fixes and ended up running two games that weekend due to the small size of the map. but it became clear that our die hard captains were excited to participate and were chomping at the bit to for a world event.
Test3: Open Test of Pandemic v8
Our third test was a huge sucsess we were able to pull some new pilots into the game with some strategic reddit posts. we implements a number of new awsome features focused on player experence.
- Web Acars
- Hoppies Acars
- improved airport lables.
- accessability options for the people with color vision issues.
- settings.
- game clock.
- status indicators
- discord webhooks
- Improved admin interface
- light mode
- Dynamic game rules page
- Improved card draw system
- Flight Planning and Dispatch.
Well I hope you enjoyed this little chat about our testing. Now lets go save the world!
